Health and Safety Information

The following datasheets are available for the media contained in our standard portable fire extinguishers, both our current and previous range.

The 1998 Health and Safety regulation : Control of Substances Hazardous to Health and the 2002 regulation : Chemicals Hazard Information Packaging for Supply require the provision of information in respect of the chemical content of, in our case fire fighting equipment.

  • Cartridges in cartridge operated extinguishers contain carbon dioxide.
  • ‘Purafoam 2007’ identifies a minor change of formula, not the date of production, and is in Purafoam extinguishers and refill bottles from 2008 onwards. Extinguishers purchased before 2008 contain a slightly stronger solution until they are refilled.
  • Hydrospray 13C is in EH30 and EH60 extinguishers from 2009 onwards. Extinguishers purchased before 2009 contain Inilam A until they are refilled. Chubb marks the service label with a code of ‘T’ or ‘R’ to indicate a refill, other companies may use ‘DT’ or ‘extended’.
  • Low freeze additive can be included in most water or foam extinguishers for outdoor use.  It must NOT be used in Purafoam, or in EB3, EH30 or EH60 hydrospray extinguishers.  The extinguisher should have a stick-on label to say that LFA has been added.
