Chubb Fire recently announced the prize-winners of its annual Christmas card competition, run in conjunction with The Scout Association. The competition was open to all Scout, Beaver, and Cub Groups across the UK as part of Chubb Fire’s ongoing support for The Scout Association and its commitment to spreading the fire safety message.

Chubb Fire received countless entries, with many Scouts evidently keen to demonstrate their artistic flair and knowledge of fire safety. To enter, Scout Groups were invited to design and make a Christmas card showing ‘festive fun on a theme of fire safety’.

The three winning designs are set to be used on Chubb Fire’s Christmas e-card, which will be sent to all of its UK customers via email.

The winning Group, the 10th Radcliffe (New Church) Scout Group from Radcliffe in Manchester, were be presented with a cheque for £300. Two runners up prizes of £100 were awarded to the 1st Rogerstone Scout Group from Rogerstone, near Newport and the 1st Nairn Scout Group from Nairn, near Inverness. The prize money is to be spent on an outdoor activity to be enjoyed by the whole Scout Group.

Group Scout leader Ann Chapman said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have won. The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all entered into the spirit of the competition and are over the moon that their design has been selected. The money will be put towards a full day activity as a treat for the whole Group.”

Commenting on the successful competition, Jane Garland, Chubb Fire’s Marketing Communication Manager said: “Our competitions in support of the Fire Safety Badge always seem to be well received and we are delighted by the number of Scout Groups that got into the festive spirit early this year by designing these cards. Their efforts are very much appreciated.

“The Fire Safety Badge offers the Scouts some invaluable advice on fire prevention, detection and escape routes should a fire break out. It is great to see so many young people participating in the badge, and hopefully taking away some vital knowledge to help keep them safe from fire in years to come.” Jane concludes.

To date, more than 72,000 Scouts have passed the Chubb Fire Safety Badge, making it one of the most popular of all scouting badges. In 2007 Chubb Fire renewed its three-year sponsorship deal with The Scout Association, including the provision of new educational literature and posters, to more than 7,200 local Scout Groups across the UK, as well as practical help from the company’s nationwide network of offices and engineers.
