Smoking Ban - New Legislation

Home / electronic security

Cut the cost of smoking to your business

Public premises such as shops, pubs and restaurants must now display no-smoking signage

All businesses will need to take positive action to prohibit smoking in enclosed public spaces.

Chubb digital CCTV systems will help you detect if anyone is smoking in a non-smoking environment.

From July 1st 2007, virtually all enclosed public spaces in England, along with Wales and Scotland will need to become ‘smoke-free’. Where this is not enforced, businesses could face a fine of up to £2500!

How the Smoking Ban could affect you

This new law will require changes to be made to the workplace. Besides displaying signs and raising awareness of the new smoke-free law, you could also be liable if someone smokes inside your premises. From 1st July the maximum fine on conviction for failing to prevent smoking in a smoke-free place could be as much as £2500.
