What is an Approval Status?

The NSI recognise companies with an appropriate level of approval, taking into account they are all at different stages of development.

The Gold schemes are the most esteemed and provide a target for ambitious companies to achieve, whilst Silver is designed for smaller companies usually at an early stage in their development.

Bronze is an entry-level scheme for NSI Guarding companies who must achieve Silver status within a specific timescale.

How do you achieve Gold Status?

NSI Gold companies must comply with the following requirements::

  • meet the toughest entry standards and due diligence on application and ongoing inspection
  • are subject to comprehensive ‘Repute of Management’ checks
  • meet all relevant British and European Standards for technical performance
  • meet the industry-specific ISO 9000 Quality Management System
  • have received 10 year security vetting for staff (security companies)
  • must train staff to industry best-practice standards
  • are fully insured to protect customer interests and staff
  • are inspected every six months by professional auditors including a sample of customers’ sites
  • operate formal, inspected internal procedures and audit processes to give greater customer assurance
  • have a long term track record of performance and evidence of reliability and stability

Chubb meet and exceed all of these requirements and were granted NSI Gold approval status in April 2004.
