Company History

For four decades, from its inception as Shorrock Developments in 1962 to the present day, Chubb Systems has been a totally reliable supplier of electronic security products and solutions to governmental and commercial organisations all around the world. Significant milestones in the Company's history are set out below.

1962- Shorrock Developments was incorporated. The design and installation of the Company's first security system was developed into a domestic intruder alarm kit form. However, it soon became apparent, by the demands of the market, that more sophisticated systems were required.

1970- was the year in which the company acquired a 5.4 acre site at Shadsworth in Blackburn, and a purpose built factory and office block were erected to meet the increased production requirement.

1972- saw the opening of a second factory unit to cater for the production of more sophisticated external perimeter detection devices.

1985- Shorrock Limited was floated on the London Stock Exchange.

1986- Shorrock Limited was acquired by BET PLC.

1988- brought about the establishment of Shorrock Community Care.

1992- with the continuing growth of Shorrock Limited, the Company was split into two separate companies. Shorrock Security and Shorrock Integrated Systems.

1993- A Transportation Projects business area was added to the Shorrock Integrated Systems portfolio to concentrate the existing technologies of network control, CCTV and fibre optic transmission into integrated solutions for transport-related clients such as Highways Agency, London Underground and Railtrack.

1996- Shorrock Integrated Systems was rationalised into two divisions, Systems Division and Customer Services Division.

1996- BET PLC was acquired by Rentokil Initial PLC.

1997- The names Shorrock Security and Shorrock Integrated Systems were changed to Initial Electronic Security Systems Limited with Initial Shorrock and Initial Shorrock Systems as their respective trading names.

2000- The trading names Initial Shorrock and Initial Shorrock Systems were changed to Initial Electronic Security and Initial Electronic Security Systems, respectively.

Initial Electronic Security Systems embraced four divisions: Initial Systems, Initial Customer Services, Initial Communications and Initial Community Care.

2007- The Company became owned by the United Technologies Corporation, a multi-billion dollar global corporation with headquarters in Connecticut, USA; consequently the Company became part

of the UTC Fire & Security Group. The Company consequently changed its name to Chubb Electronic Security Systems Ltd with a trading name of Chubb Integrated Technologies.

2010 - Chubb Electronic Security Systems Ltd, Hallmark Fire Ltd and SISYS Ltd were all bought together under the name of Chubb Systems Ltd.
